Dear audience… Good evening! This is the start. So we begin. Dear audience, good evening. GOOD EVENING!!! On behalf of Aikido society Zagreb, of Marijan and my own, we have prepared a short program for you. One of us is smart and the other one is handsome. To travel, to travel… Not only outside, to other places and other people but to travel inside. To this inner space, not anatomically but inner space of the spirit, space of consciousness… …and to see that we are strangers to ourselves. I recognized this after 20 years of practicing Aikido, that I don’t know myself. Who am I? It is said that Aikido is art of peace. It is said that it’s a self-defense, but after years of practicing you realize that it’s not. You simply continue to work intensively. You observe other people lives, how Aikido affects them. Then you realize this is a way of life where all things spontaneously improve them self. Even if conflicts occure amongst people, they are always a chance for new relationships, new values, new qualities. So far we have looked at the conflict as the ratio winner / defeated. Defeated – in the tomb / winner – history celebrates him. This is the biggest folly in the history of mankind, the biggest stupidity. At home, you live with your family and each one of you looks how to cheat one another and send them to the grave. What kind of life is that?! We are all family here, we just don’t get it yet. We are absolutely a family. As all myths and fairy tales of mankind are telling us, this inner traveling is not harmless. It is very demanding. It requires the ultimate heroism. All those images of beasts and monsters that are waiting for a passenger, these are our fears, my fears, my questions. Finally after many years of dealing with different paths I’m putting these questions in the light of the day. Breathing pattern is an indication that something is wrong. Usually our chest works, but diaphragm sleeps. There is a space in lower part of the lungs where there is no exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. This lower part. All of us have quite big lug capacity, but we don’t use it all. Through this initial work of diaphragm we begin the better use of our lungs. I think I’m on the right track, on the first step to see Aikido everywhere, on every step I make. There is one beautiful Buddhist saying: Every place is a Dojo, place where you practice path. This is very important in life. To separate space where you live and space where you work, where you walk. The whole Earth is my home. I’m suffering because of what happened in Japan. But on the other hand I’m joyful because this shaking is a chance. I don’t know if you’ve read small reports of individual people who metaphorically discovered life and revealed relationships. All those things they’ve always had, but somewhere forgot on the path of high technology. And so on, and so on… Tatami is an experimental space of everyday life. And everyday life is testing what do I do on tatami. By teaching other people but also by working on my own inner traveling. Just to clarify, this INNER is not opposite to external. It’s not an escape from outer world. Inner and external are complementary and one cannot live without the other. They seek continuously balance. On the east it’s called Jin and Jang. Even here on the west, it might be a bit less familiar to the people, it is known as action / contemplation. Inner observation, inner maturation, wakefulness and action of everyday’s life of people here in Zagreb. Regardless of type of action, type of work, relationship or situation. It’s an eternal wisdom how to reconcile, unite and balance this. Especially today. Especially today when people are, I would say, schizophrenic. When they don’t communicate to each other and where conflicts become the way of life. If there is no flame, fire, war, screams, flashes, it seems like there is no life at all. There was this one guy, very strong one. He was like this: Listen man… I can’t take it any more! He was communicating like this in the beginning. And now… Do you understand? This is very important. To breathe properly in everyday life, to be relaxed, to feel good and to make people around you feel good as well. That is something everyone of you want. You don’t want for someone to approach you like this… Do you see this? You don’t want this to happen to your child. You need to understand that this type of interaction needs to begin here and now with everyone. It’s not my goal to repeat the techniques 100 000 times and to be Aikido master. We are learning through all of this how to become better people. Aha, yeah! The end! Mune tsuki kote oroshi… Come on…. It’s not enough to throw down your partner. You have to be aware what’s going on behind your back, on the left and right, up and down. If partner comes towards me… Is it safe or isn’t it.? Partner is already on the ground. OK, I continue, I stop. Everything that is necessary for a new situation. Otherwise we are ‘Fach idiots’. What does that mean? To always do things by the same patterns. Every time, every time pattern is changing. Every time. Not only when it’s new practice, but on every single contact, every meeting, every breath. At first it was like this… Now it’s easy. Problem is here. Our body is beautiful and ready to accomplish incredible things. Only we are setting some boundaries because we have memories. For example, if a baby would have grownups mind, it would become intellectually and physically disabled for the rest of its life. It would never learn anything. So, the subject is: Let go, as much as you can. It is said that every Aikido master has its own style. Somehow, everyone who seriously practices finds their own style. It would be idiotic if everything was same. Students of the founder understood differently what he taught them. That is first thing. The other thing is that Aikido develops, mind develops, and software develops. Therefore are differences. Some of them are better than the other but again, if one finds himself and gives his full potential in it and is not restrained – great! Do you believe that you can stay here and be stable.
