My name is Wes Rhodes from the Chinese Kung
Fu Academy and from Expert Village this is kung fu sparring technique, cross hand block,
counter punch. Now the cross block remember you want to keep your elbows away from the
technique and drive the hands out to scissor the block, just like that. So as they throw
the round kick you are going to block either high or low and then as soon as the technique
hits your hands, you are going to bring the right fist back and do a counter punch over
the top. Done slowly it looks like this, one, two and one a little faster is one, two and
the way it looks with an opponent is as they do their slide up round kick you block and
then counter over the top as they come down. One slow, is one, two, one a little faster
is one, two just like that. Now this technique works on either side. If they do a rear leg
round kick see and then counter with a punch. One more slow is one, two and one a little
faster, one, two, just like so. Now the twisting to the waist is what puts power to this technique
and if you keep your arms relaxed you can increase the speed of the technique as well.
Remember keep the shoulders down and let the arms scissor out and don’t block with your
