Technique number 12 is a slide back
roundhouse kick at closed stance against rear leg attack. This technique is called number one counterattack drill due to the frequency of usage
and effectiveness in competition. The Korean term is Dwiro Pajo Dollyo Chagi. Dwiro Pajo means sliding back step. Dollyo Chagi is roundhouse kick. The first step is to retreat your body to avoid the attacking blow. The second step is to make your roundhouse kick before your opponent launches the second kick or runs away. The primary target is the trunk. In competition don’t back up too far. If
you do you will lose your distance to counterattack or you give the distance
for your opponent to come in.
