Hapkido Bo Staff Martial Arts Weapon : Variations to Bo Staff Fighting Techniques

On behalf of Expert Village my name is Master
Dave Herbert with the World Martial Art Center in New York City. I’ll be demonstrating some
hapkido staff techniques. Once again, the opponent attempts a downward strike. As he’s
coming I side step and I strike snapping his thumb right in here, thrusting forward to
the throat. Brings him down and follow through. Once again, I side step and I strike making
this hand useless to him, and for that 3 second opening I continue right through. There’s
no counter of defend from this, I thrust his throat and I follow through. I put all my
body weight down finishing. And ready with speed. On behalf of Expert Village, thank
you for watching.

  1. @ZotharReborn Good point. Most moves could be modified, however. For instance, instead of trying to aim for the thumb, aim at the wrist; you're bound to hit the wrist or thumb. And instead of the thrust to the throat, a strike to the left side of your opponent's face. A nicely executed strike should allow the bo to also protect your chest against a strike, which would be your opponent's most effective move at that point.

  2. does anyone know where i can find videos of people fighting serious with staffs (no training or lesson videos) lol
