  1. This is another reason not to put opp arm in your armpit when performing this sweep. Not to mention the person on top can go esgrima pass almost immediately

  2. That's such a key detail with the head. I always look at the hip and see at which direction the hip is facing. The logic is simple: if my hip is higher than your hip and my hips are pointing either parallel to the ground or to the ground, with your hip facing (largely) upwards, I am on top. To prevent the sweep, I must maintain these criteria. The positioning with the head on the sweeping side ensures that the far hip is pointing down, as opposed to pointing sideways if the head is on the opposite side of the sweep.
